Kathryn Diaz Therapist

Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist

Introduction

A bit about Kathryn

“I don’t so much try to live mindfully as I do consciously.” Kathryn Diaz – a passionate therapist with a desire to connect people with their shadows and integrate with their true self – says when asked about the passion behind her life work. “I’m committed to perpetually developing self-awareness and working on myself. Knowing who I am, how to understand my feelings, and why I’m feeling those things is so important.

Also, learning to take responsibility for my choices and actions is the reason behind what I do.”

For Kathryn, mindfulness is only a part of the process of integration, and the process isn’t about being perfect. For Kathryn, the mission lies in living a meaningful life and entering into an authentic existence and reaching her potential as a human being.

“For me, it’s not about being perfect or even nice all the time; it’s about aspiring towards being WHOLE.”

Kathryn Diaz received her Bachelor’s Degree from UCLA and her Master’s Degree in Marital and Family Therapy with a focus in Clinical Art Therapy from Loyola Marymount University.

Having conducted her postgraduate studies fellowship at Cedars Sinai with a Certificate in Family Therapy and Art Therapy, Kathryn moved into a role at Starview Community Services. Here, she specialized in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT) in the foster children and the Department of Children and Family Services. Here, she completed her certification in TFCBT training.

Her Work

In 2013, Kathryn Diaz completed the certificate program in Jungian studies at the Jung Institute in Los Angeles, a non-profit rooted in the work of Swiss psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung’s work in art, science, spirituality, and psychology.

From there, Kathryn moved into the role of Primary Therapist in specialized addiction and trauma and art therapy in Passages Malibu. Presently, Kathryn is enrolled in Animism and Earth Reconnection courses with the highly-respected Dr. Daniel Foor, having completed parts 1 & 2 of the highly-esteemed Dr. Laurel Parnell’s Attachment-focused EDMR training in August 2018.

Kathryn is currently seeing clients at her Santa Monica private practice while also serving as a part of the support team at Flow House. Flow is a holistic therapy center located in Venice, CA, specializing in treating addiction/substance abuse issues, trauma, grief and loss, self-esteem, and attachment (relationship) issues.

In addition, Kathryn Diaz is the creator of theastroccult.com, a site inspired by astrology, modern psychology, and ancient mysticism. The content and products of the site are created to inspire fellow seekers who share a love of the stars and foster a more profound knowledge of the interconnectivity of ourselves with all things.

No doubt, Kathryn’s career has been one of immense meaning and success, but her love for what she does stems from her deep passion for music, art, philosophy, astrology, psychology, the beauty of nature, and mysticism. For Kathryn, the mission is about bringing  these disciplines into agreement and unity for a more meaningful existence.
